Seasonal Farm and Market Assistant!
Common Good City Farm is looking for an enthusiastic farm assistant who is willing to learn about sustainable agriculture, healthy eating, market management, and community service. The successful candidate will be given training on how to complete basic farm tasks such as planting, watering, weeding, harvesting, building beds, and composting. Throughout the summer, the assistant will perform farm work, sell produce to the local community, participate in the marketing and promotion of the farm stand, and assist our summer interns. Candidates must be willing to work outside in the heat of the summer, be able to work in a team setting, and be open to learning and interacting with diverse community members. Common Good City Farm is a half-acre urban farm growing food with and for the community and providing education for all. Scheduling is flexible subject to negotiation with the Farm Manager and Outreach and Programs Manager.
Common Good City Farm runs a weekly farm market on Wednesdays from 3 - 7 pm so the Farm and Market Assistant should be available on Wednesdays for produce harvest in the morning followed by market set-up, management, and breakdown in the afternoon.
This position is for 12 weeks, starting in June, for 20 hours per week. The rate of pay is $14/hr.
Qualifications: A successful candidate does NOT need farming or market experience, but must be open to learning. In addition, a successful candidate should:
Be willing and able to lift heavy objects
Interact well with adults and children
Manage money responsibly
Treat customers, neighbors, and visitors with respect
